Ford unveiled Monday at the Bangkok Auto Show its redesigned Ranger pickup.
Ford’s global midsize pickup – available in some 180 countries – lost many of its truck-like features in the makeover, which have been replaced with touch and feel more often found in Ford’s passenger car lineup.
The truck now features an angular grille and interior design similar to Ford’s crossover. Other interior features include an 8-inch touchscreen and instrument cluster behind the steering wheel that updates diagnostic information about the vehicle.
Three engines will be available in the Ranger: a 3.2-liter diesel 5-cylinder with 347 lb-ft of torque; a 2.5-liter gasoline 4-cylinder; and a 2.2-liter diesel 4-cylinder. All engines are matched with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.
Despite the resurgence of midsize pickups in the U.S., Ford says there are no plans to make the revamped Ranger available in the U.S.
