Police in Denver are warning Ford pickup owners to watch out for thieves.

At least 180 full-size Ford trucks have been stolen this year. That number’s up from last year’s total of 137.

The trucks are not just being stolen under the cover of darkness. One man reported that he had locked his F-350 and still had the keys while a thief drove off with it from his front yard.

“I can’t believe somebody would do this, especially in broad daylight in the middle of a Sunday afternoon,” Vance Pierce told 9news.com.

Pierce’s truck, which did not have an alarm, was later recovered by police.

According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, more Ford trucks were stolen last year than any other pickup brand.

To help guard against theft, police recommend using a theft deterrent such as a steering wheel lock.
