Chris Soules, ethanol spokesman, farmer and former star of the hit TV show “The Bachelor,” was arrested today for allegedly causing and fleeing the scene of a deadly accident.

Soules, according to the Iowa State Patrol, drove his pickup into the back of a tractor Monday night in Aurora, Iowa. The impact sent both vehicles into a ditch and killed the driver of the tractor, 66-year-old Aurora farmer Kenneth Mosher.

Witnesses report that Soules fled the scene and was later arrested around 1 a.m. this morning in Aurora, according to the Iowa State Patrol. He was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, according to the Associated Press.

Soules, 35, was convicted of DUI in 2006. Alcohol was found at yesterday’s accident scene, but it’s unclear if it belonged to Soules.

Soules gained fame in 2015 for his starring role on ABC’s “The Bachelor.” He also appeared on the network’s popular show, “Dancing with the Stars.”

In 2015, Soules served as spokesman for pro-ethanol group, Growth Energy. He starred in an ad at that time promoting ethanol and other biofuels as the Obama administration was considering the proposed 2016 Renewable Fuel Standards.

Soules also appeared at both the Republican National Convention and the Democratic National Convention last summer where he advocated for ethanol and other renewable fuels.
