Summer is the busiest time of the year for most companies in our part of the business world.
Landscapers are working daylight to dark, road builders are working three shifts, and the aggregates suppliers are trying their best to keep up with the increased demand.
Things here at the magazine ramp up, too. Editors find travel is more frequent as manufacturer introductions of new vehicles and products seem to grow exponentially during the summer and on into fall.
This is also the time when we are up to our elbows making sure the ProPickup Truck Expo goes off without a hitch.
PPTE, which is held in Dallas August 22-24 in conjunction with the Great American Trucking 
Show, brings “trucks” from ½-ton pickups to Class 8 big rigs together under one roof.
If you’ve never been to GATS or PPTE, it’s definitely worth the time and expense if you: 1) use pickups for your business; and 2) love to get a first-hand look at “all things truck related.”
There are hundreds of aftermarket and OEM manufacturers displaying the latest and greatest products and accessories for big rigs at GATS, and plenty of booths full of new products in the PPTE section for pickups whether used for work or play.
Another part of PPTE is our special hour-long “SmartSessions” where guest speakers will be discussing the virtues of alternative-fuel pickups, performance add-ons and towing liability issues. The SmartSessions are free.
This will be the second year for PPTE and I hope you’ll stop by the ProPickup booth and introduce yourself. You can also register there for a chance to win our Mobil Delvac/Ram Commercial Trucks Surveyor 1, which will be on display.
We’ll also have several of our previous sweepstakes project trucks on display, and you can chat with the owners/winners.
