Confirmed: Nissan will debut diesel Titan at Detroit Auto Show

Nissan will debut its diesel-powered Titan pickup at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show in January the company confirmed to Hard Working Trucks

Last summer Nissan announced its plans to drop a 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel engine in its next generation Titan. The engine is expected to make between 310-325hp and more than 570 lbs.-ft. torque, with 30- to 40-percent better mpg than the current 5.7L Titan gas engine.

According to Cummins, engine highlights include aluminum heads; CGI block, 90-deg V; forged steel crank; dual overhead cams; chain driven cams and pump; centered injectors; highest speed range in Cummins portfolio; VGT turbo scaled down for the V8; Bosch High pressure common rail (29,000psi).

In May, Cummins Inc. said it would begin hiring at its Columbus, Ind. plant as the company gears up for production of Nissan Titan pickup engines.
