Brake problem leads to Daimler truck recall

Quimby Mug Bayou Florida Headshot

Freightliner M2106A brake problem has led Daimler Trucks North America to recall certain model year 2010-2017 Freightliner M2 Business Class, 108SD, 114SD and Columbia trucks.

Daimler reports that up to 702 trucks equipped with certain Bendix rear disk brakes and suspensions may be effected by a disk brake caliper that, if installed incorrectly, could come in contact with the suspension which can impede brake performance and increase the risk of a crash. The effected trucks were manufactured from Jan. 6, 2010 to Feb. 29, 2016.

Daimler Trucks will notify owners, and dealers will correct the position of the rear brake calipers, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to being June 7, 2016. Owners may contact Daimler Trucks customer service at 1-800-745-8000. Daimler’s recall number for this campaign is FL-705.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov. Refer to NHTSA campaign number 16V206000.
