Bed Liner Application Tips

  • Remove all hardware, including tail gate mounting hardware, tie downs, rails, racks, etc. This includes the bed bolts (it will be easier to remove bed later it the need arises).
  • Bed should be cleaned of dirt and debris and sanded with a coarse-grit sandpaper.  Clean up dust and wipe down bed with a tack wrag wet with acetone, Xylene, or MEK to remove all sanding dust. Do this in a well-ventilated area.
  • Dents, extra holes, and gouges, should be filled/repaired first before bed is further prepped for spraying or rolling.
  • Mask everthing not being covered with bed liner with paper and masking tape.
  • Drying/curing time is vital.  Some DIY formulations require a drying time of up to 8 hours and a curing time of 3 days during which only light duty use is advised. Up to a week of curing may be needed before regular heavy-duty use can be resumed. Avoid getting the bed wet for up to 12 hours or so.
  • Used multiple coats. Don’t spray or roll too thick a coating at any one pass.- Peter DuPre/ProPickup
